what are widgets?

have you ever seen a WordPress blog .that has some cool auto ponders or flashing advertisements.Widgets are similar to plugins as a matter of fact, they are much of plugins. You install them in the plugin directory and activate them from the plugin page in your WordPress Admin area. but it is different from plugins so here is the difference between them .widgets are mostly used to work in sidebars of your blog .you can directly drag and drop the widgets in sidebar. you can also rearrange them in your blog and as you want your blog to look. The first order of business for using widgets is that the WordPress theme you’re using must be “Widget Ready“. This means that the theme, itself, must be capable of using widgets. now a days you don’t have to worry about theme computability of widgets most of the themes are now  a days theme compatible. all these things mentioned above can be done through you WordPress admin area.Widgets are very handy for things like “Last blog post“, “Most frequent poster“, “Calendars or Pages“, and many other pieces of useful information.

The best way to learn about widgets is to try them out! Just navigate to your blog’s admin page and click on “Appearance –> Widgets”. Then start adding WordPress widgets to your sidebar(s) and see what effect they have.

How do they work?
